Confession Under Attack

Some features of the Catholic Faith look weird to outsiders, including Christian outsiders. Things like transubstantiation — the belief that the Host and the wine are actually changed into the body and blood, soul and divinity of Jesus Christ, or the bodily Assumption of Mary into heaven. And…..confession of sins to a priest. THAT does NOT compute for some people—say, for tens of millions. For guilty parties, like you and me, Confession is the exact opposite of a secular court. The judge in open court pronounces you guilty. Down comes the gavel, you get punished, and everyone hears about it on the news.

In this video, I review the turning points and revelations that have come in the year since former papal Nuncio to the United States, Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, released his first public letter—which he titled a Testimony (see link below for PDF of actual text). A communique from the Holy See Press Office on October 6 last year promised a full investigation. So far, nothing

Has Archbishop Viganò been exposed as a liar, or have his allegations been borne out by other facts? I take a closer look.

I count three vindications of his central claims: 1) Viganò version of events was corroborated by McCarrick’s long time secretary Mgsr. Anthony Figueiredo in his Figueiredo Report, but regarding the papal sanctions against McCarrick and the fact that then Cardinal Donald Wuerl knew all about it. (Remember, Archbishop Viganò said flat out that, “The Cardinal lies shamelessly.”) 2) Another corroboration came from Monsignor Jean-François Lantheaume, the former first counsellor at the apostolic nunciature in Washington D.C., who said that the former nuncio, Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, told “the truth.” 3) Another corroboration came rising from the past, in the form of a 2006 letter unearthed by LifeSiteNews sent from Archbishop Leonardo Sandri of the Secretary of State to New York priest Father Boniface Ramsey, which confirmed that the Holy See knew of sexual abuse allegations against ex-Cardinal Theodore McCarrick as early as 2000. 4) Archbishop Viganò has been vindicated in his claims that Monsignor Walter Rossi, rector of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., and a notorious gay mafia leader who, so the open secret allegations go, had engaged in homosexual harassment of seminarians and others. Both the dioceses of Scranton, PA and Washington DC have begun formal investigations into Rossi’s pattern of despicable behavior. So that’s good. Cardinal Pell Goes After The Germanzonian Synod—From Jail

A few questions about the upcoming “Germanzonian Synod” and its Instrumentum Laboris, or working document, in light of the letter written from prison by George Cardinal Pell.

1) Question one: why have so few cardinal and bishops written to object to the Vatican document that seems to be written by a hippie on acid?

2) Are the cardinals governed by the fear of being not pelted but of being PELLED? (Remember “being BORKED?”)

3)  The weaponized ambiguity we are force fed is not of our Lord Jesus Christ, the greatest, clearest, wisest teacher in the world. What’s the point of a Church that can is supposed to teach us the faith, if we cannot understand what the heck is going on?

4) St. Paul wrote, “We destroy arguments and every proud obstacle to the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete.” (2 Cor. 10:3-6).

Under the papacy of Pope Francis, Catholics around the world are asking themselves wondering about the foundations—the claims and teachings—of the Faith. What is doctrinal and binding and what is disciplinary and optional?

Five Things That Prevent Mass Shooters

 

In this video, I focus on the fact that, in the compulsive and fear-driven media coverage of mass shootings, everyone seems to blame the wrong things.

Lots of FEELINGS are unleashed, with very little THINKING about the roots of the behavior. To come up with ideas you need to THINK and not just FEEL.

Here’s what used to be an obvious fact: Good, strong, loving moms and dads create—for the most part—good, strong loving children. A family environment that is affirming while disciplining and challenging is very likely to prevent the raising of a mass shooter.

Families like this listen to one another, they NOTICE things going well or going wrong. This alone is a potential red flag event that could prevent a murder spree.

Good example:

You’ve never heard of William Patrick Williams, because his attentive Texas grandmother alerted the authorities.

It’s a fact: Millennials and Gen Zs have lost the age-old pillars of support:

Through rampant no-fault divorce, and through a massive loss of faith, skyrocketing fatherlessness, they have become isolated through technology, and have no strong network of community in either Church or the culture generally.

Five things families can do to prevent children from becoming shooters:

 1. Assess your child’s relationships

 2. Take note of and limit your child’s online go-to games and websites. The internet is a very violent place and with chat rooms and anonymous posting sites, someone already prone to anti-social behavior or extreme views can have their bad attitudes worsened. Dr. Nick Karadaras, author of “Glow Kids,” found a causal connection between mass shooters and hardcoread frequent video game use.

 3. Doctors should conduct standard mental health screenings, but that can only happen if parents are PAYING ATTENTION to warning signs of mental illness, and TALK to their doctors.

4. Pray together as a family from a very early age. Family prayer is a forgotten art. Let’s remember it and bring it back.

5. Don’t get divorced. Don’t follow your dream of freedom from your yucky spouse at the cost of your children’s dream of having mom and dad together.

I don’t know what it is about courageous people who stand up for the truth of things come what may—including being banned, censored and lied about—but I’m drawn to them. Gemma O’Doherty is one of them.

The multi-awarded Irish journalist and filmmaker, and foundress of Anti-Corruption Ireland, has made a career going after said corruption in the Garda (national police force), the Government, and the intertwining among these institutions and the Church, or in her words, “the cosy cartel that exists between the press, power, and the police in this country.”

To this day, she has never run out of material.

Given the Golden Boot Award from The Irish Independent, Ireland’s largest daily newspaper (owned by Clinton crony billionaire Denis O’Brien), Gemma took to YouTube, with the same unPC tenacity that characterized her style.

And then parent company Google took both her channels down for violations of—wait for it—corporate “hate speech” rules. This can happen when you a) are a practicing Catholic, b) won’t be boxed into a single “conservative” box; and c) have a thing or two to say about uncontrolled immigration.

It’s a very predictable carrot and stick game, and Mario Lopez is the latest sad victim.

The stick is having your job threatened.

The carrot is the absolution that comes from the angry elites after you confess your sins.

A few examples in no particular order.

Actor Gary Sinise, a Catholic convert for whom I have a lot of respect for his support of military families, at the last minute cancelled a large scale talk to the Catholic group Legatus in 2015. Why?

Because also speaking that day was Paul Darrow, a former male model who left the gay life and became an influencer for chastity. Someone from the LGBT thought police alerted Mr. Sinese’s show biz bosses and he backed out, citing “the controversy surrounding some of the participants, and their views on personal matters.”

Same thing happened with:

Bob Newhart

Molson Coors chair Pete Coors

Fox anchor Bret Baier

Remember former CEO of Mozilla Firefox—and inventor of Java Script—Brendan Eich was found to have sinned in the form of donating $1000 to support marriage in CA? Or former Atlanta Fire Chief Kevin Cochran was booted for including the biblical view of homosexuality in a book he wrote for Christian men? Or Professor Robert Oscar Lopez of Cal State Northridge who was canned when he veered off the orthodoxy reservation?

There are Catholic examples as well, such as low-information Catholic celebrity TV host Mario Lopez, famous for “Saved By the Bell.” This one is bad.

Mr. Lopez was interviewed last month by Candace Owens, who asked him about the PC tinseltown trend of promoting trans kids.

His common sense answer (“you gotta be the adult”…”just think about the repercussions later on,” etc) earned him a firestorm of leftist mob rage on social media.

Right on cue…I’m sure you can predict the next stage in the game, he made an abject confession of his sins to CNN while bowing to the rainbow flag.

Poor guy. Seems like a sweet person. But he wasn’t really absolved. And the mob is now motivated to keep an eye on him.
