THE MODULES
Each module is about 45 minutes long, with live Q&A and interaction with Patrick included. You’ll get deep, practical insight—but also encouragement, solid formation, hope, and a few laughs.
1. The Firestorm —Humanae Vitae in Context
How Humanae Vitae came to be written, and the immense pressure on the Pope to “modernize” in the confusing wake of Vatican II. Why the teaching shocked even some Catholic theologians—and why the dissent shaped the Church for decades. The prophetic predictions Paul VI made (and how every one of them came true).
2. The Biblical and Traditional Foundations
The teaching didn’t begin in 1968—it began in Genesis. We will explore the biblical roots of openness to life, from creation to St. Paul’s writings. The early Church Fathers’ uncompromising defense of marital chastity. Why Scripture consistently links fertility with blessing, not burden. How every Christian denomination condemned contraception until 1930—and what changed.
3. The Natural Law — God’s Design Written on the Heart
Where philosophy meets real life. What the natural law—what we can’t not know—really means (hint: it’s not about biology alone). Why contraception always frustrates the language of the body. How self-giving love becomes self-centered lust when life is excluded. The causal connection between contraception (the theory) and abortion (the practice)
4. The Other Side of the Coin — IVF, Surrogacy, and the Technological Temptation
Science is a blessing—but not when the warm rumpled sheets of the marital bed are replaced by the cold clinical setting of a laboratory. Why in vitro fertilization (IVF) and surrogacy delete the dignity of the child and the integrity of the marital act. You will learn how separating sex from babies—and babies from sex—has created a culture of confusion and commodification.
5. Natural Family Planning vs. Contraception — The Great Divide
They may seem similar, but natural family planning (NFP) and contraception are strikingly different. The anthropology of the human person and why the body’s design reveals God’s plan. The moral and spiritual chasm between “suppressing” fertility and “cooperating” with it. How NFP strengthens communication, respect, and unity between spouses, not to mention how self-mastery leads to deeper intimacy—not less.
