Yes the Bible says “whatever you do to the least of my brothers etc…”
The Bible also says “spare the rod spoil the child” which is more apropos in your story
If your mother was spanking you as a child, maybe you should be thanking God the neighbors did not interfere
After all you seem pretty reasonable, intelligent and self disciplined – maybe those spankings helped develop those traits in you
You might philosophize on that rather than fault neighbors that did not come to your aid when your mother “dragged you and spanked you”
I actually think some of the CHAZ people you are talking about could have benefited from some early childhood “whoopins”
